Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My chest xray results showed old lung insult with apical pleural mild thickening and irregularity seen bilaterally. It could be due to old parhology. No evidences of active lung disease. Normal hilar shadows. CP angles are free. Cardiac shadow is within normal. Mediastinal structures are unremarkable. Am I fit to work?
Chest X- ray shows the structures in the chest and their abnormalities, if any. In your report, they said that there is apical pleural thickening. This is there is scarring of the pleura which covers the lung. Depends on the extent of involvement, it can cause difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath and sometimes pain in the chest. It is not there that it is noted on one side or on both sides. There is no disease found at the time of X-ray study. Hilar region is the entry of the lung parenchyma which has nerves, blood vessels and lymph nodes.
The region is found as normal. Costophrenic angle shortly mentioned as CP angle is the angle between the diaphragm and the rib surface below the base of the lung. There may fluid or blood collection in this space in some conditions. It is also mentioned as clear. Heart shadow found in the X-ray is normal without any disorder. The region between the lungs is called as mediastinum where we found major blood vessels, lymphatics, nerves, etc. The structures are anatomically normal in your study without any abnormality. Mention to your doctor, the job that you are going to join, past history and complaints, if any, for a better diagnosis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
