Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got my daughter s x ray result and it says there Hazy densities are seen in the right infrahilar area and small nodularities perihilar area. What does it mean? The pedia pulmonologist gave my daughter antibiotic and I was advised to go back after 7 days of medication. The pedia didn t require any other lab test but she said that after the medication a skin test will be done. Please advise. Thank you.
Hazy densities in right infra-hilar and peri-hilar region may indicate infection. It may be due to penumonitis or tuberculosis etc. Empirically your daughter has been rightly prescribed antibiotics. She may need follow up chest X-ray. If findings and symptoms doesn't improve then tuberculosis etc should be excluded. This may be the reason for skin test.Skin test is mantoux test and it may indicate tuberculosis.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
