What Does This Chest X-ray Report Showing Shadow Around Heart Indicate?
Daughter in law was told blood work abnormal and chest X-ray revealed shadow ( fat band) around her heart. She is scheduled for cardiac cat scan and told to take two baby aspirin until testing in 2 weeks. She is 31 yrs old. They told her abnormal blood work and shadow around heart are definitely related . What could this mean?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Abnormal blood work and shadow of fat around the heart probably suggest atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a condition where there is deposition of fat and is associated with abnormal blood tests like high level of abnormal lipid profile, high level of homocysteine, high lipoprotein a etc, Fat band around heart could be due to atherosclerosis. I suggest you to consult a cardiologist for further work up and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
