Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I went through a colonoscopy on June 9th which I have yearly due to Muir Torre Syndrome. They found three Tubular Adenomas in the ascending colon and one in the splenic flexure. The three in the ascending colon were Tubular Adenomas with Focal High Grade Dysplasia, negative for invasive carcinoma. What does this mean is it cancer or pre-cancerous
Hello, Adenomatous polyps (tubular adenomas are a very common type) are precancerous lesions that when found on colonoscopy can be removed thus preventing the development of colon cancer. The finding of high grade dysplasia means that they were well on their way to cancer. Due to the number of adenomas found your gastroenterologist may want to repeat the colonoscopy sooner than one year. I suggest that you follow the guidance of the gastroenterologist and do whatever treatments they suggest. Regards
