What Does This Creatinine Level After An Exercise Indicate?
I went to a nephrologist because my GFR FOR NON AFRICAN AMERICANS has been between 45-54 for the past 4 years. Recently he told me I don t need to worry about the #s because they are that way because of how much I exercise. I was training for the last 6 mos for a 1/2 marathon. I continue to run but only 10 miles a week, strength training once a week and yoga another day. Does this amount of exercise seem to justify higher Creatinine levels (1.05-1.27) and lower GFR? Or should I go back and have it checked out after a given time?
creatinine is released from muscles. If the blood level of it is elevated it usually means it is not getting out by the kidneys as well as it should BUT it can also mean MORE IS COMING OUT of muscles. Either by exertion or just because...bigger muscles. Creatinine levels barely above normal do not take much to happen. So, yes, sounds like exercise associated.
