Hi Doctor, I feel the food stuck in my chest and it goes slowly while swallowing. The food which i had keep coming out, especially in the night time. Due to that unable to sleep properly. Hence took endoscopy.. it says Esophagus : Lax GE junction. what does it mean sir?
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. From the endoscopy report and based on the symptoms you have presented, it states that your gastro-oesophageal (GE) junction is lax. That means that the sphincter present at the junction of oesophagus and stomach is not closing adequately. Hence it is giving a chance for the stomach contents to regurgitate back, leading to 'Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease'. You have to take Tablet. Famotidine and use diet modifications like avoiding consumption of spicy and irritant foods. Also you need to abstain from smoking and alcohol, if you are addicted to. Wish you all the best.
