What Does This Endoscopy Result Indicate While Having Acid Reflux?

I had an endoscopy done today and the z-line was irregular (biopsies taken), stomach and duodenum was normal. I was told I have acid reflux. Does the irregular z-line mean pre cancer? I was told to take declination. Isn t an irregular z-line very dangerous? I have to wait 5-10 days for the results to come back.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Z-line is the demarcation between esophagus and stomach lining.
Reflux of acidic contents from stomach to esophagus result extension of stomach lining into the esophageal lining and thus forming an irregular line.
Treatment is aimed to reduce the reflux of gastric contents back into the esophagus.
Management consists of medication to reduce acidity, reduction of weight, avoiding fatty and spicy food items since they increase reflux and sleeping with propped up head.
If the reflux is untreated for long period of time, the srea may convert into malignancy.
Appropriate treatment can prevent the cancerous progression.

Thanks and take care
