Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This Fecal Lactoferrin Test For Constant Diarrhea Indicate?
I am a 52 year old woman. I am 5 3 and 240 lbs. I went to the emergency room today due to constant diarrhea that I have been having for several months. I had lab work done and it showed that my Fecal Lactoferrin test was POS (A). The doctor in the emergency room said that my blood work looked good and told me to follow up with my primary care physician. But, the Fecal Lactoferrin test was listed as abnormal on my paperwork. What does this test mean? Should I be concerned?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, Fecal Lactoferrin if positive then it indicated the inflammatory process of intestines may be due to infection or IBS hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
