What Does This Gated SPECT Nuclear Report Signify?
Negative maximal Bruce Tc99m exercise tolerance test to a low cardiac workload. Tc99m gated-SPECT imaging revealed an apical slit defect only. LVEF = 70%. Small Apical defect on both Stress images and Rest images. These findings per Gated SPECT Nuclear E.T.T. Please advise on what Apical Slit Defect means AND how significant 70% is on Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction AND next steps to expect. Pt. age is 65 with Bradycardia (HR in 40s since Cardiac Ablation Sept. 2014 for A. Flutter), RBBB, First Degree AV Block, Left Posterior Fasicular Block. Thank you.
* Apical split defect means compromised circulation at the cardiac apex region via possible atherosclerosis or other issues hampering the terminal branches of left anterior descending coronary artery supplying apical region.
However, a detailed physical examination, EKG and echo reporting evaluation with angiography are must to be co related on clinical grounds.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
