What Does This Heart Rate In A Person Suffering From Bronchitis And Syncope Indicate?

I m recovering from bronchitis, and was also diagnosed with vasovagal syncope - I m currently taking prednisone, tesselon pearls and a variety of different cough suppressants. In the last few hours I ve been able to feel my heart beating, I ve been checking it every 10-15 minutes, whenever I walk to the bathroom I check it and my heart bpm is somewhere around 95-110 every time. Is this normal?

Hi,
I carefully read your query and this is my advise:

The increase in your heart rate is probably due to the cough suppressant/mucolytic medications you have been taking. Acetylcysteine is one of them, and is being used frequently. This medication's side effect is tachycardia ( increased heart rate)
I would advise you to stop the cough suppresants and use only Tessalon that works well as a cough suppressant by to reducing the urge to cough.

Also, you need to check your BP ( blood pressure) . Since you are diagnosed with vasovagal syncope, when your BP is low your heart rate goes up. If that' s the case i advise you to drink plenty of water >2 liters/day. Be careful when you change positions from laying down to sitting up or vice versa. When you go to the bathroom, get up very slowly from the toilet bowl to a sitting up position. Make sure you have good balance before walking to the door.

If your symptoms get worse it's always good to ring your family doctor for a check up, especially now that you are recovering from bronchitis.

I hope my answer was helpful. Please let me know if i can assist you further.

Warm regards,
