My Histopathology report : (writing not clear) Colonic biopsy tissue showing cryptitis and focal crypt abscess. Rests of glands are unremarkable. Lamina prespria showing heavy non specific inflammation mostly lymphocytes plasma cells and neutrophil Please advise what disease I have. Doctors says either IBS, amebiasis or Ulcerative Colitis
Hello and welcome to HCM, The histopathological findings are suggestive of inflammatory bowel disease or amoebiasis. Both the conditions can produce similar picture on biopsy. Clinical assessment and serology for amoebiasis will determine the exact cause of gastrointestinal symptoms. Thus, you need to consult your gastroenterologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations for further work up.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
