Brief Answer Acute Hepatitis Detailed answer hi she is suffering from hepatitis (inflammation/ infection of the liver) elevated level of SGOT and SGPT is suggestive of hepatitis in further course of action i would like details to help you better 1. are her nail beds, conjunctiva ( eye) and tongue is colored yellow? 2. is she running fever? 3. does she have Decreased appetite, nausea and vomiting?
i am not convinced with the treatment her doctor has advised to her, SGOT and SGPT are not so elevated that requires injectable antiviral drugs.
i would suggest her lab tests like HbsAg and anti HCV antibodies and if HbsAg positive then serum markers of hepatitis B virus
meanwhile give her high glucose diet, plenty of oral fluids and juices avoid exertion have fresh fruits
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help wish you good health Dr BR Hudda".
