Hello,
I have carefully read your query . Based on the mucus culture it seems like there is a local infection at the tracheostomy tube and tissues around it called tracheitis. Since it is a bacterial infection it may need to be treated with antibiotics.
I would like to know how is your father feeling. Does he have fever, cough, increased sputum production? If he does I would advise him to see his doctor to do the following:
1. Get his vital signs and a good physical exam.
2. Get labs such as: CBC, ESR, CRP
3. CXR ( Chest XRay)
Your father will be treated based on the above findings.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind Regards,
