What Does This Nasal X-ray Report Specify?

Significant nasal and sinus inflammatory change. Deviation of nasal septum, mild inflammatory mucosal thickening seen throughout the nasal cavity with no definite complete patency through the ostiomeatal complexes and moderate inflammatory change seen in the maxillary and anterior ethmoid sinuses as well as in the superior nasal recesses. What does it mean and could it explain my hearingloss and vertigo.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The following entities can be inferred based on the report you have furnished.
1. Nasal septum is deviated.
2. Mild thickening of mucosa of nasal cavity is noted, which is narrowing the air passage of nasal cavity.
3. Moderate inflammatory changes are also noted with para-nasal air sinuses like maxillary and ethmoid, as well as their passages.
It describes that you are having a gross inflammation of nasal cavity along with sinuses, probably due to infective origin.
These findings of nasal cavity does not directly explain or contribute your ear symptoms like hearing loss and vertigo. For that, ear needs to be tested and investigated to know about the cause and then treated accordingly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
