What Does This Pelvic Ultrasound And Transvaginal Report Indicate?
Pelvic Ultrasound and transvaginal shows mild to moderate thickened endometrium with cystic changes, Impression is: possibility of endometrial hyperplasia/endometrial carcinoma. 1.4cm in thickness. do not have bleeding. I am 67yrs. Please give me your suggestion.
Hello, thanks for writing to HCM. Cystic endometrial hyperplasia is the thickening of the uterine lining with cystic changes. It can be a benign hyperplasia, or occur due to certain medications like hormone replacement therapy, or due to malignancy. Though clinically there is no bleeding which would raise the suspicion of malignancy, I would suggest you discuss the possibility with your doctor.
Ultrasound cannot reliably differentiate between benign hyperplasia and malignancy, hence a endometrial biopsy is suggested for a definite diagnosis. Hope this is helpful. Wishing you good health.
