What Does This Pelvic Ultrasound Report Mean?

My daughter is 22 yes old. Has dark thick facial hair. Her pelvic ultrasound shows right ovary 3.8x2.1x3.4 cm, vol 15cc. Left ovary 3.3x3.3x2.2cm, vol 13.2 cc. Both ovaries are enlarged in size and show multiple peripherally situated cysts with central echogenic stroma. No dominant follicles on either ovary. Impression: bilateral polycystic ovaries. Can you please tell me what this means for now and for future? How to treat pcos and facial hair problem? What should be our next step? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, facial hair problem with multiple ovarian cysts indicate

- low levels of active ingredient estradiol
- comparatively higher serum concentration of testosterone or androstenedione
- insuline resistance with secondary effects.

* Management depends upon the hormone support with combined OC pills and ovulation induction with clomiphene citrate or others.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
