Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my 7 year old daughter has been getting constant urine infections and a kidney scan has showed her kidneys are quite large and she possibly has a duplex collecting system on her right kidney and also there is some mild pelvicalyceal dilation! She has been referred for a dmsa scan! Is this a serious problem and what is the treatment
Thank you for your query. Kidneys normally have one ureter each that drains urine to the bladder which is later passed out. The scan appears to show that her right kidney has two ureters. A DMSA scan will, chow the exact anatomy of the kidney. This is relevant because what we find in it will dictate the treatment plan.
depending on the finding, there are good and extensive treatment options.. hope this helps. wish you both good health
