What Does This Renal Ultrasound Test Result Of Right Kidney Indicate?

RENAL ULTRASOUND CLINICAL HISTORY: Microscopic hematuria. COMPARISON: None. FINDINGS: Longitudinal and transverse images of the kidneys and bladder are done. The urinary bladder is unremarkable. The right kidney measures 11.0 centimeters in length. There is a complex right mid pole lesion measuring 1.5 x 1.2 x 1.1 centimeters. The lesion is lobulated with internal echoes and wall calcification. There is mild right pelviectasis. The left kidney measures 10.1 centimeters in length. The left kidney shows normal cortical echogenicity. No left renal calculi or hydronephrosis is seen. Patient is Female, 47 years old, 5 2 tall, 130 pounds. Could you please let me know what is the finding on right kidney? She is supposed to travel in the next few days abroad from the USA. I like to know, if we need to postpone her trip?

Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern.
She has complex lesion in right kidney that has compress pelvicalceal system and caused its dilatation and that has follwing possibilities.
1.Cystic lesion with inflammation, infection or haemorrhage into it.
2. Xanthogranulomatous lesion
3. Renal cell carcinoma
In order to reach at final diagnosis she needs CT abdomen with contrast.
There is no problem with travel as her kidneys have normal size and morphology and there is no risk of hypoxemia.
However the diagnostic dilemma should be settled soon as possible.
