My wife (age 24 yrs) is in her 7th week of pregnancy and last week only our Gyna has told us that she is having Hypothyroid and she prescribed thyroxine 100mg 1 tablet daily.
her report was TSH 9, FT4 90 ,FT3 3.16
Is it mild or severe?
DO you think we need to go for second opinion or is it safe to start medicine ?
Hello, Thank you for your query at healthcare magic.
The lab results indicate hypothyroidism. I recommend that your wife should start taking thyroid hormone as prescribed by your doctor and regularly follow up with the doctor. Maintaining a normal level of thyroid hormone is very important during pregnancy. Hypothyroidism can pose serious risk to mother and baby.
Hope I was able to answer your question Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
