What Does This Scan Result On Conception Indicate?

Hi im pregnant not 100% sure date conception likely earliest 13th jan and latest 18th jan.... last period 4th jan. had hcg tests a week ago and they were doubling or close enough from 2300 to 5200 i think. Had a scan because of some minor spotting which was just one time when wiping self on toilet on 16th feb showed intrauterine sac no pole or yolk sac. Returned today 2nd march (2 weeks later from first scan) intrauterine sac shows yolk sac and fetal pole measuring 9.5mm but no heart beat. Sonographer says non viable pregnancy and termination recommended. I want a second opinion is it worth doing another round hcg and further us or call it a day now

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.

I understand your concern.
See, at 8 weeks fetal heart sound is generally found in USG. So as your sonographer has said, it is more likely to be nonviable pregnancy. But generally a scan is suggested at 7-8 weeks and you can have another scan after 2-3 days. If it is nonviable, it is likely to be terminated by itself or otherwise it should be done medically to avoid serious complications.

Hope this was helpful.
Regards
