Hello, my husband semen analysis gives a volume of 3, liquefaction greater than 180 minutes, pH 8, sperm count 32 millions, normal morphology 80 and 20 abnormal, motility after 1 hour M-rapid active = 50, M-sluggish= 5, M-Immotile=45, viability after 3 hours with M-rapid active =35, M-sluggish=10, M-Immotile=55, WBC(leukocytes)=1-3 and RBCs= 0-1. What is the effect of long liquefaction duration on pregnancy? And how it could be solved? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
I have undergone through your semen analysis.
All the parameter are with in the reference range except liquefaction time.
Increased liquefaction time could be due to any hidden infection, any pathology in male accessory sexual gland like prostate, seminal vesicle.
I would suggest to consult the infertility specialist and undergo post cotal test, semen culture, USG of pelvis and scrotum
If post coital test will comes normal then nothing to worry.
Other wise specific treatment of cause is require.
Avoid stress, take healthy diet, drink plenty of food, do regular exercise, avoid smoking and alcohol.
Hope this may help you
