Hi, this is regarding my semen analysis report I am 41 years old. I don t have children yet. The doctor (urologist) said I have good sperm count (60 millions) but sperm volume is less (0.1 ml) and hence I need to go for IUI or IVF. Is it required? Can I improve my sperm volume?
Normal semen volume is 1.5-5 ml and it varies from person to person,You have very low sperm volume. First find any cause by consulting infertility specialist and undergo clinical examination, USG scrotum, serum testosterone, routine blood tests. If any cause found then take specific treatment.
You can try following advises under advise of infertility specialist:
- Tablet antioxidant like Co Q (if there is no underlying pathology).
- L-carnitine significantly increased the semen volume.
- Treatment increased significantly the semen volume.
If it does not respond in next 2 to 4 months then only potion is Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI) and IVF. Drink plenty of fluids and keep the heat away. Avoid wearing tight underwear or sitting with your legs crossed. Do regular exercise and yoga daily in morning for 45-60 minutes, take fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.
