Hello,
According to the details provided, the above scan describes changes in your
paranasal sinuses.
Paranasal sinuses are air cavities in the skull bones around the nose. These sinuses keep the skull bone lightweight and also are helpful in speech.
Whenever there is an infection, these sinuses get filled with secretions which result in symptoms such as headache or
facial pain depending upon the sinus involved.
All the sinuses open into the nose, if these openings are blocked then it may result in accumulation of secretions into the sinuses, which otherwise would have drained into the nose.
The report above describes such changes. Surgical anatomy of the paranasal sinus cavities is unremarkable == the sinuses do not show any abnormality in structure.
There is bilateral OMC obstruction with a secondary chronic inflammatory pattern affecting the frontal sinuses, the anterior and middle ethmoidal air cells bilaterally, and both maxillary antra === openings of these sinuses are blocked.
There is superimposed acute on chronic inflammatory changes in the maxillary antra and in the left frontal sinus === changes of infection are observed in the walls of these sinuses.
There is mild chronic mucosal thickening in the
sphenoid sinus and the posterior ethmoidal air cells with mucosal apposition at the sphenoethmoidal recesses on both sides === early changes in the sinuses, however not full blown infection seen.
Intracranial appearances are unremarkable === structures present inside the skull mainly the brain appears normal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
