What Does This Test Report For Right Lobe Of Thyroid Indicate?

if right lobe of thyroid - 2 years ago is 5.5 cm x 2.0 x 2.2 and recent US is 6.8cm x 2.1 x 2.0 then left lobe - 2 yrs ago is 5.4 cm x 2.2 x 2.1 and recent US is 7.5cm x 2.5 x 2.1 and a biopsy was done 2 yrs ago and was clear, does this warrant another biopsy even though the goiter has been there for 35 years?? or should another US be done because it was two different places that did the US?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

This report is inconclusive. Repeat Ultrasound of thyroid gland before going to biopsy and perform thyroid functions tests. If you do not having any alarming sign/symptoms like profound weight loss, palpitations, diarrhea etc., then you don't need to worry about it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Umer Farooq, General & Family Physician
