How long I have to take this medicine and what are the side effects of this medicine.
When the TSH is over 10 units then treatment is needed. If it is between 5-10 and the patient does not have symptoms, it is geneally is recommended to check it regularly for a while without starting treatment. In your case, because TSH is over 10 units you will need to start treatment. 25 mg is a very low dose, you may need to start at 50 mcg a day and in 6 weeks you need to check TSH again. According to the results, it will be decided if a further increase in dose is needed or not.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
