What Does This Transvaginal Test Result During Pregnancy Indicate?
hi my daughter is pregnant with twins, diamniotic dichorionic twins she also has a subchorionic hemorrhage measuring 3.9 x 1.5 x3.3cm. Is this dangerous to her and/or the baby, the transvaginal ultrasound also said that the SCH was above the cervix. Her EDD is Feb. 21, 2016 she had the test done last thursday I believe it stated she was 10w 4 day.
The ultrasound report is suggestive of subchorionic hematoma. It is due collection of blood between the uterine lining and the chorion (the outer fetal membrane, next to the uterus) or under the placenta itself.
There is nothing worry as most of the time it resolves on its own, and women go on to have perfectly healthy and normal pregnancies.
Although very rare however there is a risk of placenta to separate from the uterine wall and miscarriage and pre-term. So she must report to her doctor immediately if she experiences vaginal bleeding or spotting.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
