This report describes adenomyosis. This means abnormal presence of uterine glands within the uterine muscle layer.

The uterine glands are normally present within the endometrium, lining the uterine cavity. This layer is separated from the muscle layer (myometrium).

When the endometrial tissue is located within the myometrium, it's called adenomyosis. This condition may cause painful or irregular menstruation.
