Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I had an ultra sound and found out that my urinary bladder is partially distended with anechoic fluid well the last three mornings I have gotten up with a bulge on my left side very low on my stomachs down by the pelvic area and it goes away after a few hours I was wondering if this could be from the bladder
I have gone through your ultrasound report and the findings are that of a normal scan. In thin lean patients it is quite possible that a fully distended urinary bladder may appear as a lower abdominal swelling which rapidly resolve after urination. It is quite possible that what you are noticing is a normal distended bladder. However, if you are experiencing any urinary symptoms like increase in urinary frequency or urgency, lower abdominal pain then I would suggest you consult your local physician for clinical evaluation and further management accordingly.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. Wishing you good health.
I understand your concern. Partially distended urinary bladder in ultrasonography is the normal finding because of presence of urine in it. So this is not from the bladder. Bulge on the left lower side of your abdomen and it is goes away after sometime can be due hernia of abdominal wall or in inguinal region. You should visit the surgeon and get yourself physically examined. Physical examination will help to develop a diagnosis for this. Hope this will help you.
