Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
An ultrasound shows hyperechoic and calcified findings on left thyroid lobe/ gland.what does that mean? It also showed a very small nodule on the right thyroid lobe, in which they said too small to worry about . They scheduled for radioiodine in test, then later cxl it saying comeback in a year and will recheck for growth. ??? What????? Im confused.
As per my clinical experience, the hyperechoic nodule with calcification in thyroid nodule do indicate benign lesion of thyroid most likely and rarely malignant condition. However, proper thyroid functioning in terms of thyroid function tests, radioiodine uptake to see the tracer uptake amount are very vital information needed to comment further.
In some of the cases, there may be need of a fine needle aspiration cytology report to evaluate the precise pathological diagnosis and guide accordingly. I would like to readdress the issue once you have additional data available with you in this regard.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
