Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I just got my ultrasound results back and it states that my right ovary measures 4.6 by 3.5 by 4.3cm and that I have a cyst on my right ovary that measures 3.6 by 2.3 by 2.8. It says it had fluid anechoic. It also states heterogenous myometrium. Can you please explain this to me? Thanks Shauna Sage
Hello and welcome to HCM, The ultrasound report shows right ovary measuring 4.6 cm in largest diameter. The right ovary shows presence of a cyst measuring 3.6 cm in greatest diameter. The cyst is filled with fluid. Common cysts in ovary are simple cyst, follicular cyst, cystic follicle etc. Heterogeneous myometrium is seen in adenomyosis. Adenomyosis is a condition wherein endometrial glands invade the myometrium or the muscle layer. Adenomyosis can cause menstrual irregularities, dysmenorrhea, etc. If symptoms interfere with routine activities, treatment is required. If there are no symptoms, no treatment is required. The cyst in right ovary can be followed by regular ultrasound to observe any increase in size of cyst.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
