Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 62 and just got called back for an ultrasound after a suspicious area was found on my mammogram that was different than last year s screening. I have had to return a couple of times since I turned 40 and started having yearly mammograms, but never been asked to return to do an ultrasound. Does this mean the area is more concerning than if I had been called back for a second mammogram?
Hello, Welcome to hcm, After 40 years ultrasound is very sensitive in detecting any abnormalities. Repeat ultrasound doesn't necessarily mean anything wrong. Sometimes fibrocystic change mimics and is usually confused in ultrasound.
Thank you
