Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 5 5, 66 years old and was told that after having an ultrasound I have a soft mass in the pelvis and the right SI joint level. It measures 3.8 cm in diameter on the right ovarian cyst. A CA125 blood test was done and I was ordered to see a GYN/ONC. Does this mean that cancer is present?
Ovarian cyst varies from benign to malignant. The likelihood of ovarian cyst being cancerous or malignant depends on the radiological extent and blood CA 125 levels.
CA 125 levels are elevated in cases of cancers. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice for ovarian cyst of size 3.8 cm.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri,
