What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

I am 4 months post partum. I had an ultrasound following abnormal bleeding and abdominal tenderness. The ultrasound showed heterogeneous endometrium without increased vascularity, measuring 15mm in thickness. It also showed a 8 cm cyst on my left ovary. What could be the cause of the heterogeneous, thickened uterus?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Following delivery, the query endometrium will be slightly thicker and it is due to hormonal influences.

You can do a follow-up scan after two weeks if the thickness persists or in case of symptoms like bleeding, you can go for a dilation and curettage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
