Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with Cushing s disease due to a Pituitary tumor. The tumor was removed in Nov 2015 and I have been on prednisone ever since until my adrenals start making their own cortisol. The Prednisone has been causing gall bladder attacks and gastritis. My PC sent me for an abdominal ultrasound which did show cholelithiasis but not acute. However, it also showed focal cortical thinning upper pole left kidney. Could you please explain what that means? Is it something to be concerned about? Thanks! Susie

Inorder to help you i will need some more information about your health like did you have any urinary infection or stone or kidney problem before? are you on any blood thinner tablets?
This report suggest an area of kidney outer border which is thinned. This can be due to various reason like infection/hereditary/cyst/reflux diseases etc. The extend it will affect your kidney function will depend on the size of this area. Its unlikely to be related to your prednisolone intake. To know this get a kidney function test. Based on reports further management will be done. Follow back for any future query, Takecare!
