Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I am a 35 years old male & recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Did the Ultrasound for thyroid & came up as The thyroid is of normal size and shows heterogeneous echotexture with no Nodules found. There is no retrosternal extention. Vascularityis normal. No enlarged cervical lymph nodes or neck mass are present. Heterogeneous thyroid, non specific, but suggestive of diffuse thyroid disease. . Please advise as to what the simple interpretation of this means. Thanks
This result shows the size of your thyroid gland is normal, but its structure looks like there is some inflammation.
In my practice, I would look at this result with your thyroid function blood test results. If those are normal, no treatment would be needed at this time. Any abnormality in these would make me refer you to an endocrinologist (thyroid doctor).
All the best.
