What Does This Ultrasound Report Of Uterus Indicate?

hi i would like to ask about my ultrasound result, it say s here. The right ovary measures 3.4 x 3.3 x 1.7 cm. The left ovary measures 3.4 x 3.2 x 2.0 cm. Both ovaries have multiple small peripherally and centrally-located anechoic cysts measuring less than or equal to 0.5 cm. What is this means? is this dangerous? What should i do to eliminate this? Thank you so much

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
This means that you're having Polycystic ovaries as a result of anovulatory cycle. ie you have had periods but your ova wasn't released. so the spots of ova remained as small cysts around the ovaries making them look big. This a common problem and the treatment is to lose at least 20% of your current weight. Many doctors suggest that early conception will limit the problem from turning into Metabolism X syndrome where the body turns Diabetic. I would say to cut down the weight and plan for a family asap. Long term side effects include infertility as well.
Hope this helps.
