Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This Ultrasound Report Post Oophorectomy Indicate?
I ve had a past oophorectomy (borderline serous neoplasm) and on my latest follow up ultrasound a complex cyst, with slightly lobulated hypo echoic soft tissue component was identified on the remaining ovary. Potential hydrosalpinx and possibility of early ovarian neoplasm were noted. I m assuming the cyst will be removed like the last, but I wonder if a total hysterectomy would be prudent given the nature of the cysts?
Serous neoplasms of ovary are closely associated with fallopian tube mucosa, thus removal of fallopian tube will minimize the chances of recurrence. In case you have completed your family, removal of uterus is also prudent.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
