Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have a retroverted uterus with a mixed echoic firbroid mass seen a the fundus along the anterior aspect measuring about 2.7cm. What does this mean, is the firbroid something to worry about? Is this located near my bladder or opening where a baby would need to pass?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Based on the ultrasound report you have furnished, the following things can be inferred. Fibroid is excess growth of uterine musculature. It is a noncancerous condition. In your case, it is grown more towards the upper part of the uterus called 'fundus' and not towards the lower portion towards birth canal. Hence, the position of the uterus has changed from normal ante-verted to retro-verted, meaning, it has fallen back. It could be compressing certain structures. You need to get the fibroid removed by means of surgery. Kindly consult Gynecologist for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
