General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the amniotic fluid index number with dilated cistern magna is not normal indication.

* Normal level of amniotic fluid index varies between 50 to 250 mm ( 5 to 25 cm ) and hence level of 37 is quite low, indicating oligohydramnios.

* The dilated cisterna magna indicates developmental or other problems with cerebral hemispheres , cerebellum, ventricles or others.

* In my clinic, I do recommend full anomaly scan of the fetus for best possible cause and best management guidelines as per the diagnosi.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
