Hello, Placenta abruption is an uncommon condition that causes bleeding during the last half of pregnancy. It can be dangerous for both the mother and baby. You are more likely to have a placental abruption if you smoke, use cocaine, have high blood pressure, have an accident, fall on your belly etc. Your doctor will check your baby heart also, see if you are having contractions the survival of your baby depending on how much of the placenta is affect and how long you have been pregnant.
