General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

A Carotid doppler is the ultrasound of the arteries that supply the brain.
Your report indicates that there is low grade blockage of the right internal carotid artery (40%) and the carotid bulb shows deposits (usually fatty deposits).

This means that you are at risk for stroke (compromised circulation to the brain).

Would you please clarify a few things for me?
- how old are you?
-what is your height and weight?
-do you have any medical issues (high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension etc) or take any medications?
-any family history of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol?
-do you have chest pain or breathing difficulty?

I recommend :
- a physician and cardiologist consult
-blood tests (complete blood count, TSH, lipid profile, blood glucose panel, kidney and liver function tests)
-urine analysis
-electrocardiogram and echocardiogram
-a treadmill test if possible

Based on the clinical findings and above test results, a treatment plan will be formulated.
Medications usually include blood thinners, lipid lowering agents.
Tight glycemic and blood pressure control with close monitoring of cardiac and renal status is required.

Suggestions :
- a regular exercise plan (after obtaining fitness from your doctor)
-weight-loss if overweight
-balanced nutritious diet with food Hydration (if not contraindicated by your doctor)
*avoid refined grains and processed foods
*include whole grains, fresh whole fruits and vegetables
*limit oil intake to half a liter per month
*avoid fried foods and junk food. Minimize salt intake.

If you feel any breathing difficulty, giddiness, chest pain /discomfort, unexplained sweating, weakness of a leg/hand (even fingers or toes), slurred speech, vacant feeling, please go to the ER. Even if it only for a few seconds (this could be the start to a major stroke).

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
