What Does This Urinalysis Report During Pregnancy Indicate?

Hi. I am ZAKIR. My wife is pregnant with 8 months. In Urine Routine Examination Report Pus Cells is 10-12/HPF. ** I was foolishly show report After one months later. we go to doctor and Doctor became angry and give the same test again. *** I am very much worried about this, is this very harmful for baby or mother? Dear Zaakir Babu, Hi

I appreciate your concern for your pregnant wife's urine analysis.

Incomplete data: Any urinary symptoms like burning micturition, lower abdominal pain, fever, and the INCOMPLETE report of the urine analysis.

As per the findings in the urine analysis, she is suffering from urinary tract infection which is indicated by presence of 10-12 /HPF pus cells in urine.
UTI is not good for pregnancy. So, she needs medical attention immediately. Investigations like routine hemogram ,Random blood sugar, Renal function test, Urine culture & sensitivity and Ultrasound of abdomen should be done to detect other associated pathology.

I would suggest her Amoxicillin to treat urinary tract infection till the results of urine culture come out, this antibiotic is safe during pregnancy.
Then her doctor may change the antibiotic according to the results of urine culture & sensitivity. Ask her to take plenty of oral fluids to maintain a good urine output.

Hello. Thanks for asking Healthcare Magic. This urine report indicates that there is infection in the urinary tract. In pregnant women, hormones cause changes in the urinary tract, which predispose women to infections. In addition, a growing uterus presses on the bladder, preventing the complete emptying of urine. This stagnant urine is a likely source of infection. Untreated, these infections may lead to kidney infections and various complications. Yes it can be harmful for the baby as well, but you dont need to worry, now your doctor will start you on appropriate antibiotics and i hope everything will be fine. Thanks and regards
