Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a Pap smear done a month ago with the results being ACSUS but HPV neg. however I went to medcheck last night with what I thought was a uti and yeast infection. The urinalysis revealed blood and atypical squamous cells in the culture but no uti. I do however have a yeast infection. Is it normal to have Asc cells in urine especially sense my pap was positive for Asc cells or is this a sign of a underlying malignancy of some sort?
Having an yeast infection might cause laceration of vaginal mucosa. That could partially explain the presence of blood and atypical squamous cells in urine. To me, should get yeast infection treated, repeat pap smear when there is no vaginal infection, and discuss with your gynecologist for further examinations.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
