Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. I understand your concern. Nabothian cyst (or sometimes called nabothian follicle is a mucus-filled cyst on the surface of the cervix. They appear most often as firm bumps on the cervix's surface. Such cysts are fairly common. Nabothian cysts form when the mucus-producing glands in the cervix are coated with skin cells and become clogged. The skin cells plug the glands, causing mucus to accumulate, which result is a cyst. Most Nabothian cysts do not require treatment. They are often harmless and usually disappear on their own. They need to be treated when the cysts may become large enough to distort the shape and size of the cervix. They can be removed through an excision or an electro-cautery ablation or by cryofreezing. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
