Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a double mastectomy last October. I received an 800 cc implant on one side. The expander on the other side was not swapped out due to a bacterial infection my surgeon found (culture was taken). I am not pleased with the implant, due both to smaller than expected size and comfort or positioning. Both items feel so tight and pressing in the arm pit area. I am considering requesting that both items be removed and no reconstruction performed. Is this normal? And, should I consult another plastic surgeon?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per my clinical experience, the tight sensation in armpit is solely due to implant on same side. Removal of the implant will make the tissue back to previous normal texture and solve the issue.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
