What Does Tightness Around Neck And Shoulder Suggest?

Sir, I am 64 years old male. For the past one month I feel fullness/ tightness and mild pain around neck and shoulders while brisk walking/climbing. And with no movement , no discomfort. Burping and gas formation in the stomach is also frequent. I don t have pressure or diabetes. Kindly advise. Regards, Sasidharan.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
If you haven't checked your sugars and blood pressure in the last 6 months, pls do check them once again. If the pain is on the left side, then you might have to get your self checked with a physician to rule out any heart problems, considering your age. At the same time, stomach problems like dyspepsia (gas formation in stomach) can also cause left sided shoulder pain. Since it is very difficult to distinguish the cause of the left sided shoulder pain/neck fullness without clinically examining the patient, I would rather advice not to take chances (considering your age). After all gastric problems are more common than heart problems but its worth while to objectively rule out heart problems
