What Does Tingling On The Toe After Knee Arthroscopic Surgery Indicate?
Hi I have had recent arthroscopic surgery to right knee to clean up loose cartridge. All went well with the exception for the development of a tingle on the top outer edge of my right big toe. Could this be a result of the surgery? Or just a coincidence ? Tom
Tingling or numbness on the toe after knee arthroscopic surgery is commonly due to injury, retraction or mobilization of nerves during surgery. In 6-12 weeks as the nerves recover, swelling and inflammation at the surgery site reduces discomfort should go away. You may feel a different kind of sensation when the nerves regenerate, it will be a tingling sensation that is a sign of healing.
Protect the wound from infections. Infections may delay healing. Cut on the intake of sugar. High blood sugar delays healing. Stay away from addictions if any. Avoid stressful lifestyle, keep your knee and leg at rest. Get follow up clinical examinations done to help better healing and avoid complications. Take home made balanced food good for nerves like vitamin B6, B12 or supplements.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
