What Does Tingling Sensation In The Right Arm Indicate?

Hello I injured and pinched a nerve in my neck about 20days ago. It was very painful for about a 2 weeks. Now that the pain is gone I m experiencing tingling down my right arm. My strength is about a third of what it was. I m 50 yrs old and, before the injury, excercised fegularly. My question is does this mean I have nerve damage, and if so , how long does it take to heal.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI and Welcome to "Ask A Doctor" service.
I have read your question and here is my advice.

No, it does not mean that the nerve is damaged permanently.
However, it does mean that the nerve is still pinched in the neck where it exits .This is not uncommon. What I would advise you should talk to your physiotherapist who would tell you some exercise that may help you relieve the nerve where it is trapped in the neck. Sometimes MRI of the neck may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
