Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
From the description of your mother liver blood test function I see that she has an elevated direct bilirubin, AST and ALT this results mean that your mother can have a gallstone that cause the blockage of the bile duct. The gallstone can have a cholesterol constitute, the alcohol that your mother has consumed can increase the lipid blood profile and usually is the cause of fatty liver and this cause the elevated ALT and AST and also it can cause the cholesterol gallstone that increase the direct bilirubin. She has made a good choice quit the alcohol and she should have a healthy diet and lose weight if she is overweight.
The doctor gave her Udiliv 300(Ursodeoxicholic acid) biliary agent medication that help dissolve the stones by reducing the amount of cholesterol released by the liver into bile because she had a higher direct bilirubin.
Don’t worry for your mother, this is a problem that has a solution, for a better determination I recommend you to make her a abdominal echo and follow-up by a gastroenterologist.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida Janko
