Hello,
Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your description and i can understand your concerns.
Your
lipid profile is slightly deranged. The upper limit for
total cholesterol is 200, LDL is 130. Your HDL and cholesterol/HDL ratio seems fine.
You should be worried but not too much. Your cholesterol is not that high to be very worried. You may easily get back to normal range.
I have seen many similar cases in my clinic. We will do a step wise protocol for managing these conditions.
As a first line management, you can try lifestyle modifications including dietary changes and exercises. You have to repeat the tests again after two months. If you still have
high cholesterol, you have to start choolesterol lowering drugs like
atorvastatin or
pravastatin.
For the next 2-3 months, try to follow the following guideline to lower your cholesterol level.
1.Avoid oily and fat rich food. Include more fiber rich food in diet.
2.Quit smoking and have a check on your alcohol consumption.
3.Do 40 minute physical activity every day like morning walk, or swimming.
As of now,no need to worry much.Start on these lifestyle modification. You will be fine in few months.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.
